Jan 31 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

“Learn to relax. Your body is precious, as it houses your mind and spirit. Inner peace begins with a relaxed body.” –Norman Vincent Peale

Weekly Deep Relaxation: Sound Meditation & Halo(Salt)therapy

Each week will have a different theme using astrology and numerology to create an intention for a relaxing sound meditation while inside a therapeutic Himalayan Salt Cave. During the intimate session, you will recline on a individual anti-gravity chair and engage in a simple breathing exercise as you deeply surrender to the resonance of the gong.

Hourly session at 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 8:00 pm, please arrive 11 minutes early, blankets are provided, bring the following for extra comfort: eye mask, crystals, filled water bottle, notepad, and a smile.

Cost: $40 – (13 seats available)

Why Salt Cave?!

Halotherapy, aka salt therapy, is beneficial to the body for it’s beneficial, negatively-charged, ionized salt particles along with the 84 trace elements and minerals that the salt contains. Some good ones: calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, iodine, bromine, copper, selenium, and iron.

These particles help to clear pollens, viruses, pollutants and toxins of the lungs and nasal passageways, which works to treat and prevent illness.

The salt is also naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial.

This Himalayan Pink Salt is imported from the Punjab, Pakistan region of the Himalayan mountains.

Much love and blessings!

Attune to Gratitude: Despacho x Sound @ Anima Mundi Apothecary
Feb 1 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Attune to Gratitude: Despacho x Sound @ Anima Mundi Apothecary | Brooklyn | NY | US

Would you like to welcome the new month of February with with more awareness and intention?

Would you like to find gratefulness and calm amidst the chaos and unpredictability?

Would you like sonic waves to wash over you taking you to a relaxed state without complicating how to get there?

Would you like to experience gratitude as a superpower?

Join Cheryl Silva for a gratitude ceremony and seed intentions for the new month. Together we will create a beautiful offering (Despacho) and experience the sound currents of antique Tibetan Singing Bowls to amplify the frequency of gratitude and activate your inner healer.

What is a Despacho Ceremony?

For centuries, the “paqos” – the high shamans also known as the “wisdom keepers” from the Q’ero lineage of Peru have practiced the Ayni Despacho Ceremony. The word Ayni means balance and the Q’ero people believe that when humans are imbalanced, the world reacts to this and becomes imbalanced as well. The creation of an “Ayni Despacho” is like a large Mandala where participants gather sacred objects placed upon a white piece of paper that acts as a wrapping for the gift to mother earth.

The intention of this ritual is to bring the individual, the community into a place of harmony, union and balance with the natural world. Each ingredient is given breath, prayers and the ritual becomes a living prayer.

Come unwind, relax, and restore with a nourishing and cleansing series of chakra based restorative yoga led by Mackenzie Gaudette while being immersed in healing sounds combining crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, tuning forks, gong, sacred medicine songs and other overtone-rich instruments played by Brenda Hung and be transported to a place of deep rest, transformation, and vibrational change.

As we start to come out of our winter hibernation and move into spring, it can leave the body and mind feeling unbalanced. Changes of season and other life changes can also cause the Chakras to become unaligned and even blocked. Come explore and balance these chakras through the gentle movements of restorative yoga. We will work through all seven chakras starting from the root and make our way up to the crown, leaving you feeling both balanced and renewed.

A spring cleaning for your chakras!

A group sound journey invites participants to lie on the ground and allow themselves to go on a deep inner healing journey. Hold in your field an intention you want to send more harmony into and receive sound and vibrations to guide the way. Cheryl Silva plays overtone-based instruments (antique set of Tibetan singing bowls, tingsha, chimes and rattles) and is intuitively guided to address the collective frequency and needs of the group.

Power of Sound Roundtable: Sound and Consciousness @ Pioneer Books
May 15 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Power of Sound Roundtable: Sound and Consciousness @ Pioneer Books | Brooklyn | NY | US

One of the foundations of sound therapy is often described through the lens of the following formula: frequency + intent = healing. In other words, sound, joined with the intention of healing, has the power to create movement towards wholeness. In our final session of the series, featuring guest Gong Master Michael Jay, we’ll explore this formula experientially, working with the gong and metal bowls as conductors of consciousness. We’ll also touch on the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and José Argüelles, who advocate for an awakened planetary mind they call the noosphere—the time when the consciousness of the planet goes from the cosmic unconscious to the cosmic conscious. Through guided meditation combined with sound, we’ll harness the transformative power of the group mind, radiating our intention outward to create waves of harmony on Earth.

About the Power of Sound Roundtable Series
How does sound “heal”? Can sound effect change in our bodies, minds, and emotions, and if so, how? How can we harness sound to create more ease and wellbeing in our daily lives?

In this three-part Roundtable series, we will explore the therapeutics of sound, as well as its background, history, and application in the healing arts, music therapy, and daily life, and as a fast growing field unto itself. Through the lens of deep listening, we will experience sound’s inherent potency firsthand and learn how to refine our own personal sonic landscape to create a more peaceful existence.

Teletextile Sound Bath: Sonic Meditation 2019 @ Naval Cemetery Landscape | New York | NY | US

Join BGI select Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm for free Sound Bath Meditation on the elevated boardwalk of the Naval Cemetery Landscape.

Teletextile Sound Bath

Teletextile presents a sound bath experience led by Pamela Martinez and collaborator Alex Beckman. Be lulled into deep relaxation using the sounds of singing bowls, gong, harmonium, vocals, and other sound sources to provide you with a meditative and healing environment. Lay down and enjoy. These Sonic Meditations provide a way in for deep vibrational healing of the mind, body and spirit.

Sound Bath Benefits:
The body needs time to relax and rejuvenate. Research has confirmed that even listening to certain music can effectively and rapidly elicit the relaxation response and bring about chemical, hormonal, and cellular change that actively promotes healing. When our parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated [via our vagus nerve] by soothing sounds, we are sending a message of calm and relaxation to every part of our body. So when we say that something is “music to our ears,” it’s actually so much more. It’s a massage for every organ in the body. (Silvia Nakkach, Free Your Voice)

About The Instructors:

Pamela Martinez is a reiki master, educator, multi-instrumentalist and composer who creates music under the moniker Teletextile.  Her “Bjork-like” sound (The Boston Globe) moves from vocal layering and “electronic wizardry” (Metronome Magazine) to “dense, stormy guitar, piano and electronics” (Time Out New York). Martinez has toured extensively in the US, Europe, the UK and Asia.  As a genre-hopping performer and musician, Martinez has performed violin at Carnegie Hall with a Carnatic Indian music ensemble, sang in San Francisco’s historic Fillmore Theater and takes part in extravagant performance art happenings in New York City. Her most recent directing and performing credits include, Whisperlodge. The New York Times dubbed Whisperlodge “an unusual mix of theater and therapy” and has been featured in BuzzFeed, The Atlantic and more with acclaim. At home in Brooklyn, Martinez passes on the craft of music to her community by teaching violin, voice, piano, guitar, music theory and sound healing to all ages and levels of students privately and at community education centers including Brooklyn Music School and the Maha Rose Center for Healing.

Alex Beckmann is a lover of sound, a producer, drummer and composer.  As a drummer Alex has toured with various artists around North America, the Middle East, and South Africa, and has played major festivals such as Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.  As a producer he writes and performs electronic music under the name MMBLR.  A fascination with sound healing and sound meditation has led Alex to study various techniques and instruments including tuning fork Biosonics with John Beaulieu and Gong Yoga with Don Conreaux.  He looks forward to sharing what feels like just the beginning of his journey with sound and music.
